Get the Most from your Computer System

These days, computers are part of everyday office life but all too often, with the original purchase including a Word Processing package, they become little more than glorified electronic typewriters.

Lack of initial training can mean that Spreadsheets and Databases are poorly designed data is duplicated and even worse, can get lost. Desk Top Publishing software lies idle because few office members fully understand it's potential. But help is at hand from Stockton Business Centre!

The Council's ICT Business Support Officer, Kevin Boynton, works every day with businesses and their computers, and has built up detailed knowledge and understanding of the needs of small businesses.

Routine tasks include working with companies to design forms and templates, developing Spreadsheets and Databases for customer records, or reports, that best suit their needs and putting desk top publishing to work for letterheads or title pages on the internet.

Kevin's skills are now available to other companies in Stockton - completely free.

Companies are offered a free consultation to discuss needs, either in the Business Centre or at their office. Following the consultation, they will be free to pursue any solutions offered on their own, or with guidance. Many companies opt to take advantage of specially developed short, modular Training Courses covering the most popular subjects. At 3-4 hours duration, each course has been prepared by Kevin to be practical, sensibly priced and offer hands-on training.

The following list shows the training available to small businesses in the Stockton area. Should a client wish to select from more than one module for customised training, please contact the centre.

Advice on the usage of this software is available on an outreach basis.
